The NOAA Marine Debris Program is authorized by Congress to work on marine debris through the Marine Debris Act. The Act requires the program to prevent the adverse impacts of marine debris on the economy, the marine environment and navigation safety through outreach and education to the public and stakeholders. We meet this mandate and our mission by providing educational resources to help stewards of all ages learn more about marine debris.
